About Shani Ha

(b.1987)

French-Algerian multidisciplinary artist Shani Ha works in Paris and New York.

Her sculptures, performances, public art, photographs and drawings explore the somatic fragility of empathy, intimacy, otherness, and humanity at large.

From the individual to collective, singular to universal, ephemeral to permanent, contemplation to action; the abstraction and fluidity of space in her work has been central to her practice.

Shani Ha graduated in 2012 with a MFA l’École Supérieure des Beaux Arts du Mans (Talm). 

Her work has been presented at Museum of Art and Design (New York), Pace Gallery for Torkwase Dyson’s Pace Live perfomances (New York, London), the General Consulates of France and Greece in New York, Grand Palais (Berne), Central Park with NYC Arts in Parks (New York), Fondation Fiminco for Jeune Création (Romainville), Manifesta biennale in Marseille (Aix-En-Provence), Darling Greene (New York), Journées Européennes du Patrimoine pour Marseille Provence Capitale Européenne de la Culture (Marseille), L’Ecole Supérieur des Beaux-Arts du Mans, the General Consulates of France and Greece in New York.

She curated Invitation Personnelle at the Consulat Général de France à New York for Occupy #3, Entre Corps & Oeuvres avec La Collection d’Art Contemporain de Seine Saint Denis et Citoyenneté Jeunesse.

Ha was awarded with the Prix de la Folie Numérique (Jeune Création + La Folie Numérique, Parc de la Vilette Paris ) for Mitoyen.

Her permanent public artworks are installed in Drancy and Fontenay-Sous-Bois.

The work of Shani Ha is part of the CNAP collection, Conseil Général de Seine-Saint-Denis, Ville Fontenay-Sous-Bois and private collections.
